Job Description

A large healthcare organisation is looking to appoint an experienced sub Board Director level Facilities Management professional, to a new role within their organisation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provision of strong and inspirational leadership to ensure provision of excellent hospitality/support services in order to promote high quality patient care in a complex acute setting;
  • Playing a key role in the development of patient outcomes, customer service standards and delivery of Soft FM within the organisation, this role will form part of the Estates and Facilities Directorate but also have accountability to the Corporate Clinical Team;
  • Leadership of the soft facilities management (including working with PFI suppliers), also the patient and workforce experience (including complaint and feedback analysis and response) teams; KPI delivery and management in relation to soft FM and all aspects patient and staff experience;
  • The post holder will be charged with the responsibility at the highest level in their service area, for interpretation of national directives, broad DH policy and Trust priorities within Facilities Management functions;
  • Empower individuals to take appropriate decisions which meet the needs of patients, visitors and staff;
  • Maintain and develop effective partnership approaches with other providers, agencies and NHS organisations, using specialised knowledge across the full range of hospitality/facilities services;
  • Provide expert advice on the interpretation and delivery of national initiatives and local standards on a professional basis relating to, for example; cleaning, security, food safety, etc,
  • Deliver continuous improvement and standards of patient care in a cost effective manner and provide advice on a number of highly specialised and complex matters;
  • Provide high quality, modern, flexible, customer-oriented hospitality services to agreed specifications to support and enhance the provision of clinical services;
  • Ensure legal, statutory, regulatory compliance and complaint judgements are taken to deal with highly complex situations requiring analytical interpretation where precedent may not be available, e.g. root cause analysis reviews/corrective action;
  • Ensure innovation and best practice is utilised to deliver service objectives;

A successful candidate will have:

  • Substantial experience of managing hospitality support services/facilities with a proven track record of directing a broad range of activities/programmes at senior management strategic level;
  • Effective communication skills, enabling good working relationships and the efficient flow of information internally and externally to support excellent patient care delivery and good staff morale;
  • A proven track record of innovation and best practice within organisations, demonstrating that this has been utilised to deliver service objectives;
  • A high level of customer service/facing experience at very senior level, this can be outside of the healthcare environment.
